Route: – Addis Ababa, Lalibela, Hawzien, Dallol, Erta-Ale, Axum, Simien Mountain, Gondar and Bahir Dar.
This route takes you to the historical part of Ethiopia including the Blue Nile Falls, Simien Mountain national park and the Danakil depressions. The Danakil Depression is one of the earth’s hottest and most inhospitable places. Parts are more than 116 meters below sea level and noon-time temperatures soar to above 50° (, After the Rift opened, much of this area was flooded by the in-rushing waters of the Red Sea, a flood that was subsequently stemmed by fresh volcanic activity that raised barriers of basaltic lava.
Up on arrival meet your guide and transfer to your reserved hotel. Then start city tour in Addis Ababa, by visiting National Museum, Mercato, St Geoge cathedral church and Mount Entoto.
Fly to Lalibela and visit the first group rock-hewn churches of Lalibela. In this group you will find bête Medihane-alem church, biggest monolithic church in the world.
After breakfast visit the second group and the most famous of all the churches – Bete Giyorgis (which is considered as the eighth wonder of the world) the church connected each other by tunnel. Cooking class at one of Ethiopian family.
Drive to Gheralta Mountain through the magnificent landscape of Lasta and Tigria mountains. On the way visit one of the typical villages of Amhara and Tigray.
Drive to Ahmedella. On the way visit the Rock-hewn churches of Tigray, Mariam Korkor and the church of Abreha – Weatsebeha. Then proceed to Danakil depression through the Afar Valley. Late afternoon we will meet camel caravans.
Visit one of the hottest and the most inhospitable place on Earth the Danakil Depression. It is one of the lowest points in the world (-116m below sea level).
Drive to the smoking mountain / Erta-Ale. It is one of the main attractions of the Danakil Depression, and it is one of the few volcanoes in the world that has almost persistent lava lake
Early in the morning admire the boiling lava then drive to Axum. Visit the stele or obelisks of Axum, the largest single piece of stone standing anywhere in the world, castles of former monarchs, Mariam Tsion church, built on the site of Ethiopia’s first church and a palace of Queen Sheba.
Drive to Simien Park through Tekeze gorge and the spectacular landscape of Simien Mountain chains.
After breakfast hike in SMNP to meet some endemic mammals and Birds. Then Drive to Gondar and visit the 17th C castles and palaces. Finally, you’ll visit the fantastically decorated church of Debrebirhan Selasse and Bath of Emperor Fasiledes.
Drive to Bahir Dar. After lunch boat trip on Lake Tana to visit Ura Kidane Mihret monastery which is dating back to 14th c.
Excursion to one of the most spectacular water falls in Africa, the Blue Nile Falls. Then fly back to Addis Abeba. Farewell dinner at traditional restaurant with folklorist dance. Then transfer out to Bole international Airport for your international flight.
